Release notes 1.0
19 Dec 2022
Release nXP 2022.1.0.0 marks the next step in the evolution of ebankIT Products. Standing for Next-gen Experience Platform, nXP focuses on ebankIT’s Customer Channels, highlighting the Internet and the Mobile Banking applications as the primary interfaces between Financial Institutions and their customers.
Architecture
The new Front-end Architecture for the IB and MB enables modern UI technologies, creates faster and more efficient applications, and improves UI extensibility. It also increases the potential of automation, decreasing the time allocated to regression tests.
In addition, the new applications bring with them a revolution in architecture. The API Gateway enhances performance at the same time that it decreases maintenance needs by breaking down subjects and responsibilities.
The ebankIT nXP gives FIs the confidence needed to face future challenges.
User experience
Users will be delighted by the UX provided with the nXP. A structural review culminated in an easier and intuitive access to all features, with the same navigation pattern and menus for the IB and MB for a consistent customer experience. No matter the channel, the experience is the same everywhere. New components and objects will deliver superior usability based on the latest guidelines and design systems. Native components have been used on the apps whenever possible. Users can expect improved and more accurate feedback, intuitive navigation and meaningful information with contextual alerts and messages, reviewed copy and new iconography.
You will find below the description of the main features and applications of the nXP version.
Internet Banking
The nXP 2022.1.0.0 is a landmark in the path to delivering a completely new experience to users. The Internet Banking, supported by modern ASP.NetCore MVC technology/architecture, brings a new UI and UX following new architecture standards and delivering a version with the main features needed to enable new projects.
Mobile Banking
Mobile Banking also evolved into a new architecture with the Android app developed with Kotlin, while Swift was used for the iOS, both aiming to deliver a unique experience to the FIs' customers.
The highlights of the Android App
- Uses the latest Google/Android development frameworks. JetPack frameworks improve performance;
- The app is 100% Kotlin, the officially supported language. Apps built with Kotlin are 20% less likely to crash;
- Unit tests are simplified and faster, leading to better coding and consequently fewer errors;
- Coding is modular and focuses on a more improved layer separation. The business logic is separated from UI;
- Project customisations are easier;
- Stability is improved;
- The application is lighter. SVG files, unlike bitmaps, allow for better adaptability, performance and final size. There is no need to have icons for different screen densities.
The highlight of the iOS App
- New architecture based on MVVM design Pattern with dependency injection. MVVM allows for a clear separation of concerns, simplifying maintenance and project implementation;
- A new framework to manage UI allows for a full customisation of colours, fonts, and view styles, so customising the app is fast and easy;
- SWIFT improves development by providing better readability and facilitating maintenance. It is also safer as it requires less coding, therefore bringing agility to the development process;
- Modular architecture has allowed the ebankIT platform to be distributed in several frameworks organised by feature. Thanks to this structure, only the features needed are installed now on the project side. All main features of the ebankIT UI are within the frameworks, making the update process much faster;
- Testing coverage is expanded. All distributed frameworks are largely covered by unit tests;
API Gateway
The API Gateway is divided into subjects and responsibilities to improve performance, decreasing maintenance needs. It is developed on .NET Core 6.
API Gateway highlights:
- Provides abstraction of all internal APIs; The client application only needs the Gateway endpoint;
- Centralises the entry point to manage access to APIs:
- IDS Integration:
- Authorisation token validation;
- Scopes validation;
- A single point to integrate with a service discovery software.
The ebankIT Studio X
The ebankIT Studio has evolved to support this release. The new Studio X allows the development of projects with the version nXP of the ebankIT product. It is the most essential tool for the kick-off of the project and for the creation of new transactions. The project set up has a friendly interface, guiding developers throughout the process and giving meaningful feedback whenever needed.
